FAQ

Short answers about safety, editions, and Windows behavior. This site is independent: for licensing, refunds, and product defects, use the official Revo support channels.

Is Revo Uninstaller safe to use?

With a trusted installer and careful review of leftovers, it is widely used for legitimate cleanup. Avoid deleting unfamiliar shared components; consider a restore point before large registry changes.

What is Hunter Mode?

Drag the target onto a window, shortcut, or tray icon to open uninstall or related actions, handy when the list in Settings is incomplete.

Why do leftovers remain after uninstall?

Many uninstallers remove only the minimum. Caches, tasks, services, and registry data can remain until you scan and remove them on purpose.

Free vs. Pro: what changes?

Pro usually adds deeper scenarios and power-user options. Casual users can start free and upgrade if they hit limits.

The installer will not run: first checks?

Check SmartScreen and antivirus, Unblock in file properties, run as administrator, free disk space, and re-download if the file might be corrupt.

Microsoft Store apps?

Store (UWP) packages follow different rules than classic desktop installers; use the right workflow for that package type.

Should I create a restore point first?

Yes, when you plan to delete many registry keys or system-wide files. A restore point or backup gives you a rollback path if a shared component was removed by mistake.

Is Revo an antivirus or malware tool?

No. It helps remove programs and leftovers. For suspected malware, use proper security software and professional guidance rather than uninstall utilities alone.

Windows 11 support?

Current Revo builds target supported Windows desktop releases including Windows 11. Confirm your edition against the vendor’s published requirements before deploying in production.

Process still in Task Manager after uninstall?

A service or scheduled task may keep a helper running. Stop the process, check Startup and Task Scheduler for the old product name, reboot, then rescan for leftovers.

Is this site official VS Revo Group?

No. This is an independent guide. Licensing, refunds, and product bugs belong on the vendor’s official site and support system.

SmartScreen warns about the installer: why?

Windows SmartScreen scores reputation. Less common downloads or fresh builds can show a prompt even when the file is legitimate. Prefer official download URLs, compare hashes if your workplace requires it, and use Unblock in the file’s Properties when appropriate.

Safe vs Moderate vs Advanced scans?

These modes control how deep the leftover search goes. Safer lists are shorter; advanced lists are longer and may include ambiguous matches. Start conservative when you are new or when other apps from the same vendor remain installed. See Features: scan modes for a fuller comparison.

Does uninstalling free space right away?

Most of the time, yes, once files are actually deleted. If something stayed in the Recycle Bin, empty it. Locked files may need a reboot. Cloud-backed folders may refill from sync until you remove the account or online copy.

Should I update Revo after a Windows feature upgrade?

Good idea. Large Windows releases can change how apps register and uninstall. Running a supported Revo build reduces odd edge cases when you next remove software.

Another user on this PC still had the app installed?

Per-user installs leave data under each profile. With admin rights you can often remove the main program, but check other accounts’ startup entries and libraries before deleting big folders. See Family and shared PCs on the blog.

Must I reboot after every uninstall?

Only when the uninstaller or Windows says so, or when services and drivers were part of the product. Rebooting also releases file locks so your next leftover scan is accurate.

Can I undo deletions from a leftover scan?

There is no universal undo for every registry key or file. Use a restore point or backup before large cleanups, and keep notes or exports of what you removed if you need to troubleshoot later.

Portable edition or special builds?

What the vendor ships changes over time. Read the official download page and license for the current packages. Features on this site discusses capability, not which ZIP or EXE you should pick today.
