Endpoint protection often installs filter drivers, network inspection modules, and low-level hooks that load at boot. Skipping the vendor’s official removal or cleanup tool is one of the fastest ways to get intermittent bluescreens, broken VPN clients, or a machine that thinks it is still protected when it is not. Treat security suites like mini operating systems: uninstall them with the same patience you would apply to a service pack.
Why the vendor path comes first
Many vendors ship dedicated removal utilities because Windows’ generic uninstall entry cannot always tear down kernel components in the right order. Download the current version of that tool from the vendor—not a random mirror—run it while connected to power, and follow its reboot prompts even when they feel redundant.
